Council Chambers, Municipal Building

6:00 pm
Special Council Meeting was call to order by Mayor Apking at 6:00 pm. Upon roll call the following council members were present: Ms. Carolyn Smiley-Robertson, Mr. Stiney Vonderhaar, Mr. John Ranz Jr., Mr. Bill Puthoff, Mr. Doug Lohmeier and Mr. Jeff Albrinck. Also present were: Assistant to the Mayor, Jack Cameron; Village Solicitor, Tim Burke; Della Rucker and Village Clerk, Barb Rohs.
The purpose of this special council meeting was to go through the Comprehensive Master Plan. The Comprehensive Master Plan focuses on the commercial areas in Evendale. This special meeting was a working session and the meeting was audio taped. These minutes contain major discussion points.
Mr. Ranz noted that the market and economy has changed so there are parts of this plan that no longer are valid. All agreed it was time to plan so when the market changes Evendale is ahead of the game.
Much discussion on using the word “dissuades”. The intent was not to discourage diversity but to not impact or hinder the diversity in Evendale.
Della Rucker expanded on the need for a hotel to support tournaments at Sports Plus. Comments were made not to build a hotel for one facility.
A letter from Formica was distributed stating they would like for their property to be continued to be zoned industrial. To respect the wishes of our business community, Mr. Cameron suggested this part of the plan be removed.
Ms. Rucker would like all council members to look through the last section, make any changes and please give back to Jack Cameron. A list of changes will be compiled and addressed at the next working session on March 3, 2009 at 7:00.
Meeting was adjourned at 8:45.
